Sarooz Paratung is (Juniper dwarf mistletoe) is a parasitic, evergreen plant, belonging to the Loranthaceae family, which lives off sarooz (Juniper) trees and causes disease. Sarooz Paratung is collected from the sarooz trees of the higher pastures and brought home to where the plants are dried in the open air and then ground. The powder is mixed with dough to make bread which is given to patients with Zahdan/Meh chomique (backache/lumbago). In some cases it is also used as a tonic.
