Local Practice:
The rhizomes/roots of Shalmu Chanu are dug out and the thin bark is removed. The rhizomes/roots are then chopped into small pieces, dried, ground and stored. The powder is mixed with bread and given to patients of Meh Chomiqe/Zehdan (backache/lumbago). It also improves the quality of the bread, making it whiter and softer.
